Saudi Arabia

In Saudi Arabia, sex toys fall under the category of pornographic material and are banned under Islamic law. If discovered, your toys will be confiscated.

United Arab Emirates

Sex toys are illegal and will be confiscated. Even though you may not know it is illegal, you do face the possibility of persecution as well.

Thailand

Thailand has a booming sex tourism industry but sex toys fall under Thailand’s list of contrabands, specifically “obscene objects,” prohibited from being brought into the country.

Vietnam

Your sex toys will be taken by customs officers and kept until you leave the country at which time it will be returned. In 2011, the General Department of Vietnam Customs announced that Vietnam officials will not allow the import of sex toys into the country. 

Malaysia

The Malaysian Penal Code states that anyone who sells, distributes or possesses “any obscene book, pamphlet, drawing, painting representation of any figure or any other obscene object whatsoever…shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend up to three years, or with fine, or with both. The law extends to importation.

India

This may be the citadel of the Kama Sutra but the Section 292 of the Indian Penal Code, any book, drawing, figure or object, “shall be deemed to be obscene” if it fuels any lascivious, or overtly sexual thoughts and behaviours, and Section 67 of the IT Act makes that law also applies to online businesses. Massagers that are phallic in shape are illegal.

Maldives

Sex toys are prohibited according to the Maldives Customs Services website. Pornographic material including sex toys, books, magazines, films, videos, DVDs and software is prohibited.

Alabama, USA

According to the 1998 Anti-Obscenity Enforcement Act, the sale of adult toys has been criminalised. The act categorizes a sex toy as any device designed or marketed as useful for the stimulation of human genital organs.
